2027: Sewedo Declares Bid for Badagry Constituency I Assembly Seat, Advocates Equity in Badagry Politics

Hon. Padonu Ismail Sewedo has called for fairness, equity and inclusiveness in Badagry’s political structure as he formally declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Badagry Constituency I in 2027.

In a strongly worded message announcing his ambition, Sewedo stressed the need to move away from favoritism and sentiment in leadership selection, urging stakeholders to prioritize competence, capacity and credibility. He noted that sustainable development in Badagry can only be achieved when capable individuals with both grassroots connection and technical expertise are given the opportunity to serve.

The Ajido-born politician, who described himself as a committed grassroots mobilizer, said he has remained actively involved in the political evolution of Badagry over the years. According to him, his decision to step forward is driven by a desire to offer a higher level of representation that reflects the true needs and aspirations of the people.

Sewedo outlined a forward-looking legislative agenda anchored on the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals into governance. He said his focus would be on youth empowerment, quality education, economic growth, social inclusion and overall community development, adding that Badagry must align with global standards to achieve lasting progress.

He also warned against the continued sidelining of merit in the political process, noting that such practices have slowed development and limited effective representation in the constituency.

Appealing directly to leaders, stakeholders and voters, Sewedo urged a rethink of existing political patterns, emphasizing that the future of Badagry depends on deliberate and informed choices.

“Send me, I can represent better,” he declared, pledging purposeful leadership, accountability and inclusive governance.

With his declaration, Sewedo joins the growing list of aspirants positioning for the 2027 elections, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested race in Badagry Constituency I.
