The Olofin Adimula Oodua of Ado-Odo Aworiland, His Royal Majesty Oba Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi Osolo Otenibotemole II, has thrown his weight behind Nigeria’s U-20 female national team, the Falconets, as they prepare to begin their campaign at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The monarch also expressed excitement over the inclusion of Ado-Odo-born striker, Alaba Olabiyi, in the Nigerian squad, describing her participation on the global stage as a great opportunity to make her community proud.
In a message shared on the official Facebook page of the palace, Oba Otenibotemole said he had closely followed the Falconets throughout their qualifying campaign, noting that he attended almost all their group-stage home matches until the team secured qualification for the World Cup.
According to the monarch, the Falconets now face a bigger challenge as they prepare to confront defending champions Spain in their opening match of the tournament.
He called on the people of Ado-Odo and Aworiland to rally behind the team and give their full support to the young Nigerian players as they represent the country on the international stage.
The monarch said he was particularly looking forward to seeing Olabiyi in action, describing her as “our own Ado-Odo-born striker” and urging her to seize the opportunity to shine.
“The entire people of Ado-Odo, Aworiland, stand firmly behind the Falconets and our own daughter, Alaba Olabiyi. We are proud of you and will be cheering you on all the way,” the monarch said.
He wished the Falconets success in the competition, while urging Olabiyi to make Nigeria and her hometown proud.
“Best of luck, Falconets. Shine on, Alaba Olabiyi. Make Nigeria and Ado-Odo, Aworiland proud,” he added.
The monarch’s message has further highlighted the growing excitement in Ado-Odo as residents look forward to watching one of their own represent Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The people of the ancient town are expected to follow the tournament closely and lend their voices in support of Olabiyi and the Falconets as they embark on their quest for glory in Poland.
