The Osun State APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has reportedly escaped an alleged assassination attempt after unknown gunmen were said to have opened fire on the Tinubu and AMBO campaign convoy.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while the convoy was returning from the inauguration of APC Ife Federal Constituency canvassers.
Although reports of the alleged attack have sparked reactions online, questions have also been raised by some social media users over whether the incident actually happened.
One critic questioned why multiple shots allegedly fired at the convoy appeared to have struck what was described as the safest part of the vehicle without hitting the driver or passengers.
Another user also expressed doubt, asking why a shooter would fire several shots at the same spot and questioning whether the marks seen on the vehicle were actually bullet holes.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no independent confirmation of the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack or clarification from relevant security authorities on the incident.
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with security concerns remaining a major issue for political parties and their supporters.
