Drama unfolded at a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State, on Monday as a 16-year-old girl was arraigned for allegedly threatening to kill and attacking her 15-year-old schoolmate over a boyfriend dispute.
The teenage defendant, whose identity was withheld because of her age, was brought before the court on February 23, 2026. She is facing charges of threat to kill and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Friday Mameh, the incident occurred on February 20 at about 9pm at Khalakuta Jegba Quarters in Badagry. He told the court that the defendant allegedly used a razor blade to cut the face of the complainant during a confrontation over claims that the victim had “snatched” her boyfriend.
The prosecutor said the attack caused panic in the neighbourhood, as residents were thrown into confusion by the altercation.
He added that the complainant sustained injuries from the razor blade cut and that the defendant was later apprehended and handed over to the police.
The prosecution maintained that the alleged offences contravened Sections 230 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate A. J. Aina granted the teenager bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below Grade Level 12.
The case was adjourned until March 30 for mention.
