Residents whose buildings were demolished during the reconstruction of the Topo Garage to General Hospital Road in Badagry have honoured Hon. Bonu Solomon, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, for his efforts in facilitating compensation for affected property owners.
The residents presented the lawmaker with an Award of Excellence and Appreciation over the weekend, acknowledging what they described as his outstanding support and selfless efforts in helping them secure compensation from the Lagos State Government.
The award reads, “In recognition of your outstanding support and selfless efforts towards the successful facilitation of compensation for affected property owners in Badagry.”
Bonu was recognised for his role in the road expansion and reconstruction project, which stretches from Badagry Market through Topo Garage to the General Hospital Road. The project was executed by the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area.
For the affected residents, the recognition was an expression of appreciation for the lawmaker's intervention in a process that directly concerned their homes and property.
The development highlights the significance of political representation and stakeholder engagement in addressing the concerns of residents affected by major public infrastructure projects.
The residents' gesture also reflects their appreciation of efforts to ensure that property owners affected by road expansion are considered in the compensation process.
