The Federal Government has announced a 30-day discount on petrol sold at NNPC filling stations, in a move expected to reduce the immediate cost burden on motorists and public transport operators.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, announced the measure at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
Oyedele said public transporters would receive priority under the arrangement, while the government would also adopt a negotiated landing cost for petrol to be reviewed monthly.
“There’ll be a discount on NNPC petrol for the next 30 days, with priority for public transporters,” he said.
