BLG Chairman Hunpe Urged to Further Empower Grateful POS Beneficiary in Yonronfun, Likened to the Biblical Leper

The Badagry Local Government Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe has been urged to further empower a grateful POS beneficiary in Yonronfun, whose act of thanksgiving has been likened to the biblical leper who returned to appreciate Jesus after being healed.

In Luke 17:11–19, ten lepers were healed by Jesus, yet only one returned to give thanks. That timeless lesson on gratitude has found a modern reflection in Badagry, where one young beneficiary has stood out among many to say thank you.

Yonronfun Felix Homayon has become the lone voice of appreciation among over 100 beneficiaries of the Badagry Local Government empowerment programme initiated by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe. Out of a massive ₦400 million empowerment scheme rolled out to mark the chairman’s 100 days in office, Yonronfun received what many would consider one of the smallest packages: a Point of Sale machine and ₦50,000 as start-up capital.

Yet, rather than complain or compare, Yonronfun took to social media to express deep gratitude to the chairman and those who recommended him for the programme. His public appreciation has since drawn attention, not just for what he received, but for the spirit with which he received it.

At Badagry Today, this singular act of gratitude is worth celebrating. In an era where empowerment items are often sold off within days and cash support squandered without impact, Yonronfun’s response tells a different story. It suggests discipline, contentment, and a genuine desire to build something meaningful, no matter how small the beginning.

His appreciation post revealed that the POS machine and ₦50,000 have already begun to change his life, boosting his confidence and opening doors to economic productivity. He acknowledged the chairman’s vision of self-reliance and also praised Hon. Kuyimo Moses, former Supervisor for Environment in Badagry Local Government, who recommended him for the empowerment slot after being contacted by an apex leader within the political structure.

What makes Yonronfun’s story even more striking is that, among the many empowered under this programme, he is reportedly the only one who has come forward publicly to say thank you. Not for political points. Not for attention. But out of genuine appreciation.

This virtue deserves encouragement. If a young man can value and maximise what others may see as little, there is every indication he will do even better with greater support. Badagry Today therefore calls on the Executive Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, to identify this grateful beneficiary and consider empowering him further in his chosen business. Gratitude, accountability, and productivity should never go unrewarded.

Yonronfun’s action reminds the public that empowerment is not just about how much is given, but about the mindset of the receiver. While some sell off opportunities and return to zero, others plant wisely and grow steadily. In choosing gratitude over entitlement, Yonronfun Felix Homayon has offered a powerful lesson to many and a clear signal to leaders on where true impact can thrive.

In Badagry today, one grateful heart has spoken. And sometimes, one is enough to make the difference.
