We’ll end banditry if you vote us in 2027 – Aregbesola

Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, has called on Nigerians to embrace the party, saying the ADC is ready to end banditry and other violent crimes once it forms government in 2027.

Aregbesola made the remark in Ilesa, Osun State, shortly after revalidating his ADC membership card on Wednesday. The statement was confirmed by the Chairman of the ADC Directorate of Media and Publicity in Osun State, Oluwaseun Abosede.

Speaking to his supporters at Ward 8 in Ifofin, Ilesa East, Aregbesola said he chose the ADC because of the discipline, integrity, and character he believes the party stands for. He praised the committee handling the exercise and urged Nigerians to join the movement, saying the country needs a government that can truly confront insecurity and put an end to attacks like the recent one in Kwara where gunmen invaded a church, killed worshippers, and kidnapped others.

According to him, the ADC is not a miraculous creation but a party built on courage, competence, and a sincere commitment to serve the Nigerian people. He insisted that this is the party capable of pulling the nation out of its present challenges.

Earlier, Senator Sodiq Yaradua, Secretary of the Membership Registration and Revalidation Committee, launched the exercise alongside other party leaders. Yaradua noted that the new ADC membership card carries twelve advanced security features to prevent duplication and safeguard the integrity of the process. He revealed that Aregbesola was the first person in the country to be revalidated under the new system and urged members to complete their registration at the ward level. He also announced that an online portal would soon be launched to make registration easier for everyone.

Honourable Kamil Akinlade Mudashir, who leads the ADC committee on membership mobilisation in Osun State, officially revalidated Aregbesola’s membership.

Aregbesola has been outspoken about the party’s plans ahead of 2027. In a report published on September 13, 2025, he declared that the ADC is determined to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the next general elections. He unveiled a grassroots mobilisation strategy in Lagos, where the leader of the Labour Party’s Conscience Forum, Moshood Salvador, brought his members into the ADC.

The event was attended by the Lagos State leadership of the party as well as zonal and ward leaders of the Conscience Forum across the twenty local government areas and thirty seven LCDAs in the state.

Addressing the new members, Aregbesola praised their decision and urged them to fully commit to the party’s mission of taking power at both the federal and state levels. He said the ADC is not only aiming for the presidency in 2027 but is also determined to take over Alausa. He explained that the party’s strategy is built on a simple formula where one committed member must bring in ten new members, and each of those ten must also bring in ten others. Replicated across the country, he said, this approach will guarantee a sweeping victory for the ADC in the 2027 elections.
