Another alleged illegal alcohol production facility has been raided in Badagry, Lagos State, barely a week after an illegal juice factory was reportedly uncovered by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the area.
The latest operation was carried out on Wednesday night by operatives of the Badagry Police Division at Iyafin, where a 48 year old man identified as Emeka Anieba was arrested.
Anieba, a native of Anambra State, was reportedly arrested over his alleged involvement in the production of fake and unapproved Flamigo alcoholic drinks at the facility.
The raid followed intelligence received by the police over suspected illegal alcohol production in the area. The operation was led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Badagry Police Division, CSP Jude Nwokolo, alongside his team.
During the operation, the police reportedly recovered various items suspected to have been used in the production and packaging of the alcoholic beverages.
The development has renewed concerns over the production and distribution of unregulated alcoholic drinks in Badagry, particularly products manufactured without the required regulatory approvals and safety standards.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigation into the alleged operation continues. Further details are expected from the police as the investigation progresses.
