A shocking scene unfolded in Ogun State as police arrested a man accused of trying to flee his community with the body of his wife stuffed inside a sack and tied to a motorcycle.
The suspect, Gandonu Lowe from Omolende Village in Yewa South, was reportedly attempting to slip away after allegedly killing his wife. His escape plan fell apart after a tipoff reached the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro, prompting officers to move in quickly.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, officers intercepted Lowe on Wednesday afternoon and searched the sack he had strapped to the motorcycle. Inside, they found the lifeless body of his wife, bearing signs of violence and bleeding around the neck. A blood-stained cutlass was also recovered, deepening suspicions of foul play.
Lowe was immediately taken into custody, while the woman's remains were moved to the state morgue in Ilaro for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the anonymous informant whose alert led to the arrest. He urged residents to keep speaking up, noting that even the smallest piece of information can help save lives and stop crime before it happens.
