Badagry Women’s Voices Echo “Bonu Lẹ́ẹ̀kan Sì” at Lagos APC’s Endorsement of President Tinubu

The voices of enthusiastic women from Badagry echoed loudly through the hall at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, during the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, as they chanted “Bonu Lẹ́ẹ̀kan sì!”, meaning “Bonu, once again!”, in a passionate show of support for their representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu.

The event, convened by the Lagos APC under the leadership of Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, was primarily organized to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027. However, the spontaneous chants from the Badagry women added a vibrant twist to the occasion, signaling their strong admiration and commitment to ensuring Hon. Bonu’s re-election bid for Badagry Constituency 1.

The women drew attention with their colorful attire and coordinated chants, which resonated across the hall and briefly shifted the spotlight to the Badagry delegation. Their display of loyalty and solidarity underscored Hon. Bonu’s growing popularity and the firm grassroots support he continues to enjoy among women and youth in the area.

The APC stakeholders’ meeting, attended by top government officials, ministers, legislators, council chairmen, traditional rulers, and party faithful from all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs of Lagos State, witnessed a unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu’s re-election.

The motion for Tinubu’s endorsement was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.

Speaking at the gathering, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the endorsement as “a powerful demonstration of unity, loyalty, and gratitude” to President Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to national development.

Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat praised Tinubu’s courage and vision, stating that his policies were “redefining governance and laying the foundation for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity.”

Pastor Ojelabi, in his remarks, announced a ₦20 million cash reward for the local government with the highest number of newly registered voters and ₦5 million for the best-performing ward, urging members to mobilize residents for the ongoing voter registration exercise ahead of 2027.

The meeting ended on a strong note of solidarity and renewed political commitment, with stakeholders pledging to deliver massive votes for President Tinubu’s re-election.

But for many in attendance, the highlight of the day remained the spirited chorus from Badagry women, “Bonu Lẹ́ẹ̀kan sì!”, a clear message of their resolve to see both President Tinubu and Hon. Bonu return for second terms come 2027.
