Police Vow to Track Down Killers of NSCDC Officers in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has promised to work closely with other security agencies to fish out and prosecute those responsible for the killing of eight Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers in Okpella, Etsako East LGA.

The officers, attached to the BUA Cement Factory, were ambushed by suspected kidnappers last week. During the attack, a Chinese national was abducted, four people were rescued, and four others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment.

Following the tragic incident, NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, directed the Edo Command to console the bereaved families and ensure the fallen officers are laid to rest with full honours. He hailed them as patriots whose sacrifices will never be forgotten and pledged that the medical bills of the injured would be fully covered.

On Tuesday, Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, visited the crime scene in Okpella. In a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, the CP described the attack as “a dastardly act that will not go unpunished.” He assured that efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted expatriate and to tighten security around the cement factory and nearby communities.

“The Edo State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property. We will not rest until those behind this heinous crime are tracked down and brought to justice,” Agbonika stated.
