First Lady Remi Tinubu Empowers 1,000 Women and Persons With Disabilities in Lagos - Photos

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday empowered 1,000 women and persons living with disabilities in Lagos through her Renewed Hope Initiative, a programme designed to support entrepreneurship and promote financial independence among vulnerable groups.

The event, which attracted beneficiaries from across the state, saw women and people with disabilities receive empowerment tools and starter packs to help them build sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who announced the initiative in a Facebook post, praised the First Lady’s commitment to uplifting women, describing it as a clear demonstration of her belief that women play a central role in the progress of every society.

“In Lagos, we share this conviction,” Sanwo-Olu said. “That is why we supported the programme by contributing an additional 500 empowerment items to ensure that more women could benefit.”

The governor further urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the resources provided, stressing that the support should serve as a springboard to expand their businesses, uplift their families, and contribute to the economic growth of Lagos State.

The empowerment scheme is part of Senator Tinubu’s broader Renewed Hope Initiative, which has been rolled out across different parts of the country, with a focus on women, youths, and vulnerable Nigerians.

For many of the beneficiaries, the initiative marks a new beginning and a chance to build a more sustainable future.
