The Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has called on his supporters to accept the outcome of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election and work together for the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Whingan made the call on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, while meeting with his campaign coordinators and committee members drawn from the 20 wards across the Badagry Federal Constituency at his constituency office in Ibereko.
The meeting was his first major engagement with his supporters since the APC primary and provided an opportunity for the lawmaker to address the outcome of the exercise and call for unity, reconciliation and continued commitment to the development of Badagry.
Speaking to the gathering, Whingan acknowledged the support and confidence demonstrated by his supporters and party members during the primary, but urged them to put the disagreements surrounding the exercise behind them and respect the decision of the party.
He stressed that the APC remained bigger than individual political interests, while maintaining that the development and progress of Badagry should remain the priority of all stakeholders.
Whingan therefore appealed to his supporters to support the APC candidates across the various levels of the 2027 elections.
Those he listed include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, the party's Lagos State governorship candidate, and his running mate, Princess Damilola Sonayon James.
He also called for support for Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and the APC candidate for the House of Representatives in Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Olusegun Onilude Adeniran.
Others are Hon. Gbenu Henugbe Joseph, APC candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Badagry Constituency I, and Hon. Olatunde Oladunjoye Yusuf, candidate for Badagry Constituency II.
“Whatever may have happened during the primary, we must not allow it to divide us. The APC is bigger than any individual, and the progress of Badagry is bigger than any personal interest,” Whingan said.
“I appeal to all of you to accept the decision of the party and remain united. There is no room for bitterness or division. We must put the primary behind us and focus on what lies ahead.”
The lawmaker urged his supporters to channel the same energy and commitment they demonstrated during the primary towards mobilising support for the APC and its candidates across the constituency.
“I want you to work for the success of the APC and all its candidates with the same strength, commitment and vigour that you demonstrated during the last general election, when Badagry stood firmly with our party,” he added.
Whingan further assured the gathering that his commitment to the development of Badagry remained unchanged, regardless of the outcome of the political process.
“I remain committed to the development of Badagry, and nothing will change that. My support for the APC and the victory of the party in 2027 is unwavering,” he said.
The federal lawmaker also tasked his campaign coordinators and committee members with taking the message of unity and reconciliation back to their respective wards and communities.
He said the success of the APC in 2027 would require discipline, cooperation and collective effort from party members, while urging them to keep the party strong and united.
Whingan thanked his supporters for their loyalty, sacrifices and commitment throughout the political process, assuring them that their contributions to the growth and development of Badagry remained appreciated.
