The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon Ajose Peter Kumayon, has described the 2027 general elections as a time for the people of Olorunda to reciprocate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating the council during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.

Ajose made the remarks at the third quarter workers forum of Olorunda LCDA, where workers endorsed President Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 elections.

The workers said their decision was based on the performance of the APC-led governments at the federal and state levels, as well as what they described as the positive impact of Ajose’s administration in Olorunda since assuming office.

Those endorsed include President Tinubu, the APC candidate for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon Onilude Segun Adeniran, and the party’s Lagos State House of Assembly candidates for Badagry Constituency I and II, Hon Gbenu Henugbe Joseph and Hon Olatunde Oladunjoye Yusuf respectively.

Addressing the workers, Ajose appreciated them for their support and confidence in his administration, while urging them to sustain the same spirit ahead of the 2027 elections.

The chairman also commended President Tinubu, highlighting his administration’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects across the country. He particularly mentioned the Sokoto Badagry Expressway, which he said would bring greater economic opportunities and development to Badagry and neighbouring communities.

Ajose recalled that Tinubu, while serving as Governor of Lagos State, created Olorunda LCDA alongside 36 other additional councils, bringing the number of local government and development councils in the state to 57.

According to him, the creation of Olorunda LCDA has strengthened grassroots administration and provided opportunities for people in the area to participate directly in governance.

He said the establishment of the council also created the platform through which people like him could emerge as council chairmen and contribute to the development of their communities.

Ajose therefore described the 2027 election as an opportunity to appreciate Tinubu for the creation of Olorunda and other LCDAs.

“If President Tinubu had not created Olorunda LCDA, people like me may not have had the opportunity to serve as chairman of this council,” Ajose told the workers.

He urged them to reciprocate the gesture by giving Tinubu and other APC candidates massive support at the polls.

The chairman, however, said his political appeal would not distract his administration from its responsibility to the people, reaffirming his commitment to the continued implementation of his development agenda in Olorunda.

He also appealed to the workers and management staff to continue supporting the administration as it works towards transforming the council.

Earlier, the Lagos State President of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Sunday Sewanu Ogunfowora, expressed support for the chairman’s position and commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for what he described as workers-friendly policies and infrastructural development across Lagos.

Ogunfowora highlighted the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and the state government’s responsiveness to issues raised by the union, describing the Lagos State Government as a listening administration.

He urged Olorunda workers to prepare for the 2027 elections and support the APC from the presidential level down to the two State Assembly constituencies in Badagry.

Also speaking, the APC candidate for Badagry Constituency I, Hon Gbenu Henugbe Joseph, thanked the Olorunda workers, NULGE leadership, Ajose and the council management for the endorsement.

Gbenu pledged to provide effective representation at the Lagos State House of Assembly and ensure that his mandate contributes meaningfully to the development of Badagry.

The forum ended with the presentation of NULGE flags to Gbenu and representatives of other APC candidates present at the event.
