The political atmosphere within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State has come under renewed scrutiny following the resignation of five Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) from the cabinet of the council chairman, Hon. Adeola Alimot Adetoro, report by Lagos Reporters detailed.

The development has raised fresh questions about internal relationships within the party and the council administration, particularly as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Lagos Reporters, the affected appointees are Comrade Giwa Michael, Mr. Taiwo Hassan, Mr. Kehinde Badmus, Mrs. Benedict Doe and Alhaja Biliki Elegushi.

In separate resignation letters dated October 24, 2026, the five aides reportedly communicated their decisions to leave the administration, citing different reasons, including personal grounds, alleged intimidation and their inability to continue in service.

However, allegations surrounding the circumstances of the resignations, particularly claims of intimidation in connection with the signing of resignation letters, have added another dimension to the development and raised concerns about the working relationships within the council's political structure.

Although the Eti-Osa Local Government has maintained that there is no disunity within the administration, the departure of five political appointees at the same time has drawn attention to the state of affairs within the council.

Investigations by Lagos Reporters indicate that political disagreements have reportedly persisted within the Eti-Osa APC structure since the party primaries, with indications that differences among some political stakeholders may have remained unresolved.

The latest resignations have consequently renewed attention on the relationship between the council leadership and some members of its political support base, as well as the level of cohesion within the ruling party at the grassroots.

Of particular interest are the allegations of intimidation surrounding the resignation process and whether the circumstances reflect isolated disagreements involving the affected aides or broader tensions within the administration. The claims, however, require further clarification from the parties involved.

The development comes as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, a period when internal cohesion, grassroots mobilisation and stakeholder relationships are expected to feature prominently in political engagements.

For the Eti-Osa APC, the situation also brings renewed attention to the party's electoral history in the local government, including its defeat in the area during the 2023 general elections.

With five aides now reportedly out of the council chairman's cabinet and questions surrounding the circumstances of their departure, attention is likely to remain on how the council leadership and party stakeholders address the development.

Whether the resignations are isolated personnel decisions or a reflection of wider disagreements within the Eti-Osa APC structure remains a question requiring clear explanations from the affected individuals and the council leadership.
