The Member of the House of Representatives representing Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has installed 117 solar powered street lights across eight communities in the constituency.

The intervention covered selected streets in Iworo, Apa, Ajara, Ikoga Zebbe, Pota, Igborosun, Seme and Javie, cutting across Badagry Local Government, Olorunda Local Council Development Area and Badagry West Local Council Development Area.

The project is part of the lawmaker’s efforts to improve security, protect lives and properties and enhance the quality of life of residents across the constituency.

Speaking on the intervention, Whingan said the project was designed to bring practical solutions closer to the people, particularly in communities where inadequate street lighting has affected nighttime movement and security.

He said effective representation should be measured by its impact on the people, stressing that the installation of the solar lights was not just about illuminating streets but also about creating safer communities.

“Our people deserve to live and move around their communities with confidence, especially at night. When we light up our communities, we are creating safer spaces, protecting lives and properties and opening up opportunities for our people to move, work and conduct their businesses with greater confidence,” Whingan said.

The solar powered lights are expected to improve visibility, support nighttime economic activities and help discourage criminal activities in poorly lit areas.

Residents of the beneficiary communities have welcomed the intervention, describing it as a timely development that would improve movement and security within their communities.

Whingan reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing more constituency projects that will address the infrastructure, security and developmental needs of residents across Badagry Federal Constituency.
