Badagry Women Rally Behind Damilola Sonayon-James, Pledge Massive APC Victory in 2027

A strong wave of political support swept through Badagry on Wednesday as women leaders from Badagry Local Government, Olorunda LCDA, and Badagry West LCDA converged at the Badagry Local Government Secretariat for a solidarity hangout and endorsement rally in support of the All Progressives Congress and its Deputy Governorship Candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James.

The gathering, which drew women groups and political stakeholders across the three councils, became a unified platform for calls for mobilisation and loyalty ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, the Wife of the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mrs. Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Hunpe, reaffirmed strong support for the APC, noting that the emergence of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James represents a significant step toward addressing long standing political marginalisation of Badagry within Lagos State’s governance structure.

She urged residents to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC governorship ticket, and all party candidates, stressing that unity and commitment to the party would deepen political inclusion and accelerate development across the area. Mrs. Hunpe also commended the three council chairmen for their support in ensuring the success of the programme, while appreciating women leaders across Badagry for their turnout and dedication.

Also speaking, the chief convener of the programme, Mrs. Arinola Sunny Ajose, expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the APC for the nomination of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as Deputy Governorship Candidate, describing it as the fulfilment of a long held aspiration for Badagry.

She said the development reflects years of sustained advocacy for greater inclusion, recalling the consistent efforts of her late husband, Chief Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, who she noted strongly championed higher political recognition for Badagry before his passing. According to her, the emergence of Princess Sonayon-James stands as a historic milestone that would have brought him immense pride.

Mrs. Ajose called for sustained prayers and mobilisation for the Deputy Governorship Candidate, urging women across Badagry to remain united in their support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Other speakers at the well attended gathering reinforced the call for unity and strategic mobilisation across Badagry Federation.

Mrs. Folashade Kofoworola Ajose, wife of the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, called for intensified grassroots mobilisation across communities, describing the nomination of Princess Sonayon-James as a rare political honour for Badagry. She urged party faithful to convert appreciation for President Tinubu’s decision into overwhelming electoral support for all APC candidates, while commending Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her advocacy for women inclusion in governance.

Mrs. Mariam Yemaren, wife of the Executive Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, described the nomination as a source of pride for the council and the entire community. She called for unity among stakeholders, stressing that collective effort and sustained prayers would be key to electoral success in 2027.

Mrs. Bukola Bamgbose, wife of the APC Apex Leader in Badagry West, urged party women and leaders to intensify mobilisation, noting that the political goodwill surrounding the nomination must be sustained through disciplined grassroots engagement and voter mobilisation.

Throughout the event, speakers consistently emphasized unity, gratitude, and coordinated mobilisation, while reaffirming loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership at all levels.

The programme ended on a unified note with a unanimous endorsement of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all APC candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, as women leaders pledged sustained grassroots mobilisation across Badagry Federation.
