A shocking domestic incident has left a woman dead and her husband in police custody at the State CID in Owerri.
Kelechi Prince Okeke, from Ngor-Okpala, Imo State, was arrested after his wife, Olumma Chizoba Lucy Akataobi, from Abia State, died following an argument at their home on Monday, February 2. The dispute reportedly erupted over N35,000—a payment from a customer to Olumma, who runs a business at Relief Market, Imo State.
Olumma’s sister, Ezinne Akataobi, alleges that the confrontation with her husband led directly to her sister’s death. Kelechi, however, claims Olumma suddenly cried out “my chest, my chest” while eating, then vomited and collapsed, insisting he did not harm her.
The family disputes his version, stating that Olumma often returned to her husband despite being encouraged to stay with them for her safety. They are now demanding justice and a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her death.
Authorities in Owerri have launched an official probe, and photos circulating online show Kelechi in handcuffs at the CID headquarters. The case has already ignited outrage across social media, with many calling for swift accountability.
