Kumayon Enrolls 500 Olorunda Residents in Free Ìlera Èkó Health Insurance Scheme

The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, in a major step toward improving access to quality healthcare at the grassroots, has registered 500 residents for the Ìlera Èkó Health Insurance Scheme of the Lagos State Health Management Agency LASHMA at no cost to the beneficiaries.

The initiative fulfilled a promise made by the council chairman during his recent 100 Days in Office celebration, where he pledged to prioritise the wellbeing of residents by expanding access to affordable healthcare services across the council.

Officials of LASHMA are currently stationed at the Olorunda LCDA Secretariat in Iworo, where selected beneficiaries drawn from the five wards of the council are being captured and issued health insurance coverage under the state scheme.

Speaking on the exercise, Hon. Kumayon described accessible and affordable healthcare as a central pillar of his administration, noting that the health of the people remains a top priority under his development drive.

He said no investment is too much when it comes to protecting lives and ensuring that residents of Olorunda can access quality medical services without financial hardship.

The initiative falls under his RESHAPE Agenda, a comprehensive development framework built on seven key pillars including rural development, education advancement, staff welfare, healthcare improvement, agricultural growth, environmental sanitation and water supply, as well as empowerment for youths and women.

Residents have welcomed the programme as a timely intervention, describing it as a relief for families who often struggle with medical bills, while commending the council leadership for bringing government support directly to the grassroots.
