The Lagos Beach Cleaners Initiative has announced the appointment of Waniyon F A Jacob as its new Director of Operations and Logistics, a move aimed at strengthening the organisation’s project delivery and professionalising its coastal sanitation efforts across Lagos.
In his new role, Jacob will oversee the planning, execution and risk management of the initiative’s environmental projects, bringing with him years of hands on experience in nonprofit management, sustainable development and youth leadership.
A graduate of Lagos State University where he earned a degree in Education, Jacob previously served two terms as Project Coordinator of Campus Recycling Champions, a role that placed him at the centre of grassroots environmental advocacy within the university community.
His commitment to environmental sustainability also extends to volunteer engagements with organisations such as the Green Janitors Sustainable Initiative, alongside other community focused environmental groups.
Beyond environmental work, Jacob is widely recognised as a seasoned administrator and youth leader. He is a member of the Lagos State Youth Parliament representing Badagry Constituency One, where he currently chairs the House Committee on Education.
He also serves as Project Manager at Tech Now Global, Team Lead of the Isaac Sewanu Educational Foundation, and Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Badagry West Local Branch.
Jacob’s profile further includes roles as a YOMA Ambassador with UNICEF, Lagos State Youth Ambassador for Badagry Division, and Lead of the Badagry Literacy Club, reflecting his broad engagement in education, development and community empowerment.
Welcoming him to the leadership team, the Lagos Beach Cleaners Initiative described the appointment as a strategic step toward scaling impact and improving operational efficiency, noting that Jacob’s blend of technical skills and community experience positions him well to drive the organisation’s vision for a cleaner and healthier Lagos coastline.
The organisation expressed confidence that his passion for sustainable development and proven leadership capacity will play a critical role in the successful execution of its environmental roadmap in the months ahead.
