Badagry based humanitarian group the David Assogba Foundation has thrown its weight behind the Sesi Whingan Free School Ride with a two week logistics support and free meals for students benefiting from the programme.
The support has drawn commendation from the Office of the Member of the House of Representatives Badagry Federal Constituency which described the gesture as timely and deeply impactful for students and their families.
Under the support package the foundation has taken responsibility for fueling the two buses deployed for the free school ride for a period of two weeks while also providing snacks to students conveyed daily under the scheme. The foundation is financed by a renowned real estate entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of Reftop Homes Limited and has continued to play visible roles in humanitarian causes within Badagry.
The Badagry Free School Ride is an education focused initiative conceived and fully funded by Hon Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan. Launched early last year the programme operates with two large coaster buses transporting students to and from school across several communities in the federal constituency at no cost.
Since inception the initiative has eased transportation challenges for many families reduced daily expenses for parents and guardians and contributed to improved school attendance especially among children from low income households.
Reacting to the development Hon Sesi Whingan described the support from the David Assogba Foundation as a clear example of community partnership and shared responsibility in advancing education at the grassroots.
He stressed that sustainable development thrives when public office holders private individuals and organisations work together noting that investment in education remains one of the most effective ways to secure the future of Badagry and Nigeria.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to people centred programmes that directly impact children and young people while encouraging other well meaning individuals and corporate bodies to emulate the foundation’s gesture.
The Office of the Member of the House of Representatives also expressed deep appreciation to the David Assogba Foundation and its founder for standing with Badagry students describing the partnership as a strong boost to the collective vision of accessible education social responsibility and inclusive development across the constituency.
