Badagry Kingdom has been thrown into deep mourning with the passing of its revered monarch, His Majesty De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I, the Akran of Badagry, who has joined his ancestors.
The news, reported by Badagry Parrot News, marks the end of a historic era in the life of the ancient town. For decades, the late Akran stood as the custodian of Badagry’s rich cultural heritage, a pillar of unity, wisdom and royal authority, and a respected voice within the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
His reign extended far beyond the boundaries of Badagry. Across Lagos State and Nigeria, he was widely regarded as a monarch of intellect, culture and rare dignity, whose influence and counsel reached well beyond the palace and into the broader affairs of society.
As Badagry bows its head in sorrow, the nation joins in paying tribute to a royal father whose life and reign have left enduring marks on history. Though the crown has fallen, his legacy will continue to speak for generations yet unborn.
