The Presidency has firmly denied reports making the rounds on social media that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the report as false and misleading, urging Nigerians to ignore it completely.
According to the statement, there has been no change in the leadership arrangement at the Presidency, stressing that Hon Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues in his role as Principal Private Secretary.
The Presidency noted that the viral claim suggesting Muri-Okunola had taken over the position of Chief of Staff was entirely fabricated and designed to cause unnecessary confusion and disharmony within government circles.
Onanuga further warned that such unverified information should not be taken seriously, adding that members of the public and the media must always verify facts before sharing or publishing sensitive reports.
He described the rumour as the handiwork of mischievous elements bent on spreading fake news, reassuring Nigerians that the administration remains focused on its responsibilities and governance agenda.
The statement urged citizens to rely only on credible and official sources for information relating to government activities and appointments.
The clarification was issued on December 25, 2025, amid growing online speculation over changes within the Presidency.
