Bonu Honoured With Prestigious ATPN Fellowship for Outstanding Tourism Leadership

Honour and recognition came the way of Hon. Saanu Solomon Bonu as the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria ATPN Southwest Chapter conferred on him its highly respected Honorary Fellowship Award in recognition of his far reaching contributions to tourism development in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Hon. Bonu who serves as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tourism Arts and Culture and represents Badagry Constituency One received the award on Wednesday December 18 2025 at the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex Alausa Ikeja.

The decoration was personally presented by the National Vice President of ATPN Mr. Nunayon Apata who described the lawmaker as a consistent and passionate advocate of tourism and cultural development.

According to Mr. Apata Hon. Bonu’s legislative commitment and practical support for tourism growth especially in Lagos State earned him the fellowship of the association which he described as one of the most coveted honours within the tourism industry.

He noted that Bonu was initially scheduled to receive the award alongside other distinguished personalities during the first Southwest International Tourism Expo held on December 6 2025 at the Lagos Airport Hotel but could not attend due to official engagements.

To underline the value and worthiness of the recognition Mr. Apata said the association resolved to make a special presentation at the lawmaker’s office.

"Bonu’s contributions to tourism and cultural development in Nigeria are tremendous , especially in Lagos State At ATPN we recognise and appreciate individuals who have stood out and made real impact in advancing tourism in the country This honour is well deserved", Mr. Apata said.

Other notable personalities nominated for the ATPN Honorary Fellowship Award include Hon. Babatunde Hunpe of Badagry Local Government Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Yemaren of Badagry West LCDA and Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon of Olorunda LCDA.

Responding Hon. Bonu expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of ATPN particularly Mr. Apata for the honour bestowed on him. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the growth and sustainability of tourism arts and culture in Nigeria.

He said the award would further inspire him to work harder without compromise in promoting policies and initiatives that would unlock the tourism potential of Lagos State and the nation at large.

The award presentation was witnessed by members of the Badagry Media Group who were on a courtesy visit to the lawmaker. The delegation was led by its Chairman Dr. Sehude Akande who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Citymood Communication.

Other media professionals present include Mr. Ovi Kuponu, Secretary of the group and Publisher of The DE Voice Newspaper; Mr. Felix Godonu, CEO, Badagry Prime, Mr. Anthony Whejiepon Chief Executive Officer of Badagry Online Radio, and Mr. Peter Dansu; Publisher of Badagry Today Online News Platform.

The event added another milestone to Hon. Bonu’s growing profile as a leading voice in tourism advocacy and cultural promotion in Lagos State and beyond.
