Police Warn: Collecting Transport Money From Men Without Showing Up is a Crime - Police Warns Ladies

The Rivers State Police Command has issued a stern warning over a trending social habit where women collect transport money from men but fail to honour the meeting.

In a viral video, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, described the act as fraudulent, stressing that it is punishable under the law.

“Taking transport fare from a man without actually going to meet him is an offence. It is obtaining money under false pretence, and that is a crime,” she explained.

Iringe-Koko further cautioned that anyone found guilty could be arrested and prosecuted, urging Nigerians to steer clear of dishonest financial dealings.

The police statement has since sparked heated debates online. While some argue that the act is a moral failing and shouldn’t be criminalised, others fully agree with the police, insisting it amounts to fraud.
