Ezun, who hails from Aradagun in the Olorunda Local Council Development Area and currently serves with EcoBank, emphasized the critical role of local governance in transforming communities. In a statement issued on Monday, he commended the emergence of the APC flagbearers: Hon. Babatunde Hunpe (Badagry Local Government), Hon. Rauf Kayode Yemaren (Badagry West LCDA), and Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (Olorunda LCDA), describing them as tested leaders with track records of public service.
“These candidates have each, in various capacities, demonstrated commitment to the advancement of Badagry,” Ezun noted. “But the real task lies ahead. If elected, they must prioritize prudent financial management and direct resources toward critical infrastructure and youth empowerment initiatives that will elevate the standard of living in our historic region.”
Highlighting the economic potential of Badagry, Ezun pointed to the town’s rich history, strategic location, and tourism assets. He called on the candidates to embrace visionary governance, implement transparent budgeting, and adopt policies that would drive sustainable development across the three councils.
Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, a former federal lawmaker and one-time Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor, is the APC’s candidate for the main Badagry Local Government. Hon. Rauf Kayode Yemaren (popularly known as RIKAY), the current Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, is contesting for chairmanship in the same council. Meanwhile, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, a former Vice Chairman of Badagry Local Government, is vying for leadership in Olorunda LCDA.
Ezun’s message comes at a critical time as the people of Badagry prepare to go to the polls. His voice adds to the chorus of stakeholders emphasizing the need for performance-driven leadership at the grassroots level.
“Leadership at the local level must move beyond politics into performance,” Ezun stated. “If these gentlemen are entrusted with the mandate of our people, they must prove worthy of it by making every naira count for the betterment of Badagry.”
The July 12 election is expected to draw significant interest from across Lagos State, with Badagry’s councils positioned as key areas to watch due to their historic relevance and untapped economic opportunities.
As the countdown begins, the spotlight remains on the candidates — and the hopes of many rest on their ability to deliver, should they emerge victorious.
