The newly installed Baale of Esepe Awori Community in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry, of Lagos State, Chief Simeon Olushola Ashele, has begun his reign with a strong commitment to environmental cleanliness and community development.
As part of efforts to keep the community clean, healthy and befitting of its heritage, Ashele recently led residents across different compounds in Esepe Awori in a community-wide cleanup exercise.
The exercise involved cutting overgrown grass, clearing the environment and beautifying different parts of the community, with residents coming together to support the initiative.
Speaking with Badagry Today, Chief Ashele described the cleanup as part of his promise to the people of Esepe Awori to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
“Today, we came together as one across different compounds in Esepe Awori for a community cleanup. We cut the grass, cleared the environment and beautified our land,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to GreenJanitor for supporting and partnering with the community during the environmental exercise, stressing that collective efforts remained essential to achieving sustainable development.
“A clean community is a healthy community. May we continue to work together for the growth and pride of Esepe Awori,” he added.
Chief Simeon Olushola Ashele was recently installed as the Baale of Esepe Awori Community under the authority of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sheriff Adeshina Bello, the Onigbanko of Gbanko Kingdom.
Born on September 6, 1996, the 29-year-old traditional ruler is among the youngest Baales in the Badagry Division.
Before his installation, Ashele served as Director of Community Affairs of the Ashade Grassroot Movement, AGM, where he was actively involved in grassroots mobilisation and community development.
His early steps as a traditional leader, particularly the community cleanup initiative, are being seen as a demonstration of his intention to combine traditional leadership with practical grassroots development and environmental responsibility.
