Prince Omotayo Samuel Adeniran Sewanu, Chairman of the Kweme Descendants Union, KDU, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, the Governance Advisory Council and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State over the emergence of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 elections.

Prince Omotayo in a statement sent to Badagry Today, described the decision of the party leadership as a step that reflects fairness, balance and internal inclusiveness within the APC, noting that the choice of Princess Sonayon-James has helped to correct long standing concerns over the political representation of Badagry in Lagos State.

He also praised the roles played by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and Mr Seyi Tinubu, alongside other party stakeholders, for what he described as their contributions to a consensus that produced a widely accepted outcome within the party structure.

According to him, the nomination of Princess Damilola Sonayon-James stands as a strong signal that the APC remains responsive to calls for equity and political inclusion, adding that Badagry has now regained a stronger voice within the Lagos political landscape.

He further acknowledged the efforts of political actors and stakeholders who had earlier pushed for greater recognition of Badagry in the state’s political arrangement, including Prince Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, noting that such advocacy helped to draw attention to long standing demands for inclusion.

Prince Omotayo also praised what he called the foresight and leadership of President Tinubu, describing his influence as central to strengthening unity within the party and ensuring balance across diverse interests in Lagos State.

He commended the unity demonstrated by APC leaders during the nomination process, saying it reflects a renewed sense of cohesion within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, he urged youths in Badagry to avoid divisive comments on social media and instead focus on unity and collective progress, stressing that the emergence of Princess Sonayon-James should be seen as a shared victory for the entire community rather than the achievement of any individual or group.

He also called on political leaders in Badagry to set aside differences arising from recent party processes, reconcile with one another and work towards building a stronger front for the APC ahead of the elections.

Prince Omotayo concluded by advising all stakeholders to show magnanimity in victory and prioritise unity, noting that only a united front would ensure electoral success for the party in 2027.
