SMA Congratulates Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, Says Nomination Validates Badagry Inclusion Campaign

Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, popularly known as SMA Gold, has congratulated Princess Damilola Sonayon-James on her emergence as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, describing her nomination as a major victory for the long-standing struggle to secure greater political recognition for Badagry.

Ajose, a former APC governorship aspirant from Badagry, has been one of the leading voices advocating an end to what many have described as the decades-long political marginalisation of the division in the governance structure of Lagos State. His campaign for the state's top seat was largely built around the demand for fairness, inclusion and the belief that Badagry deserves an opportunity to produce a governor.

Although he recently stepped down from the governorship race in support of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat following the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and consultations within the party, political observers believe his sustained advocacy helped bring renewed attention to Badagry's quest for political relevance.

Reacting to the nomination of Princess Sonayon-James, Ajose said her emergence represents more than an individual achievement, noting that it is a clear indication that the years of agitation for Badagry's recognition are beginning to yield tangible results.

"We have no iota of doubt about her ability, capacity, competence and high sense of responsibility to serve diligently and effectively as a worthy representative of the good people of Badagry and Lagos State at large," Ajose stated.

According to him, the nomination serves as a validation of the collective efforts of numerous stakeholders who have consistently championed the cause of equitable political representation for Badagry.

"Your emergence as the party's Deputy Governorship candidate is, without doubt, a testament to our sustained agitation and advocacy for Badagry to occupy its rightful place on the political centre stage of Lagos State," he said.

Ajose described the development as a significant milestone in the struggle for inclusion, recognition and political balance, adding that it offers renewed hope to generations of Badagry indigenes who have yearned to see the division adequately represented at the highest levels of governance.

The APC chieftain also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party for what he described as a historic decision that has changed the political narrative of Badagry.

"For decades, Badagry yearned for greater recognition in the political architecture of Lagos State. Today, the political searchlight has finally been beamed in the direction of our people, and for that we remain deeply grateful," he said.

Ajose further thanked party leaders, community stakeholders and supporters across the state whose contributions and commitment helped sustain the campaign for Badagry's inclusion.

He congratulated Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, the people of Badagry and all advocates of equitable representation, expressing confidence that her nomination would inspire a new era of political participation and opportunities for the division.

With Sonayon-James becoming the highest-ranking Badagry indigene on a major governorship ticket in Lagos State's history, many political analysts view the development as a watershed moment and a major outcome of the sustained campaign for greater inclusion championed by leaders such as SMA Gold and other stakeholders across the division.
