BACCIMA Trade Fair 2026 Opens in Lagos, Targets Stronger Regional Trade and Investment

The 2026 edition of the BACCIMA Trade Fair has officially opened in Badagry, Lagos State, with stakeholders highlighting the need for stronger regional trade, increased investment opportunities, and deeper business partnerships across Africa.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, represented by the Deputy Director of Commercial, Mr. Segun Alugba, described the trade fair as an important platform that continues to strengthen Badagry’s position as a major gateway for commerce and cross-border trade in the region.

She said the theme of this year’s fair, “Trading Without Borders: Empowering Business for Regional and Global Markets,” reflects the vision of the Lagos State Government under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to drive infrastructure development, support enterprise growth, improve trade facilitation, and promote regional integration.

According to her, Lagos remains strategically positioned to benefit from opportunities provided by the Economic Community of West African States and the African Continental Free Trade Area, giving businesses access to a market of more than 1.4 billion people across the continent.

The Commissioner also commended the Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture for sustaining the trade fair and creating opportunities for small and medium-scale enterprises to connect with investors, expand their networks, and explore markets beyond Nigeria.

In his remarks, the President of BACCIMA, Alhaji Yahaya Oladiran Idris, described the 10-day trade fair as a major meeting point for businesses, manufacturers, exporters, investors, policymakers, and development partners seeking to build partnerships and unlock new economic opportunities.

He noted that the fair is expected to attract participants from different sectors and countries, while also promoting innovation, trade exchange, and economic cooperation within Africa and beyond.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of business leaders, entrepreneurs, government officials, and exhibitors, all expressing optimism that the fair would further boost commercial activities and strengthen Badagry’s growing relevance in regional trade and investment.
