MAEJT Nigeria paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government on March 31, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and advance child protection initiatives within the community.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe; the Special Adviser on All Duties; the Supervisor for Youth and Sports; the Supervisor for Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Chief Ogunbiyi; and other members of the Council’s team.
The MAEJT Nigeria team, on the other hand, was led by the Communications Manager, Mr. Hunge Gabriel Semeton. Other members of the team included Odion Elizabeth (Programme Manager), Eke Chinedu (M&E Officer), Samuel Joy (Assistant Communications Manager), Nugbonode Hanifat (Desk Officer), and Onilude Remilekun (Youth Accompany, Ajara Association).
During the visit, the team presented an overview of the organization’s work, including its history, mission, and ongoing interventions in Badagry. Key areas highlighted included community sensitization, psychosocial support for children, child rights education in schools, and collaboration with anti-trafficking networks to identify, reintegrate, and support survivors of trafficking.
The team also emphasized its grassroots, child-led structure and the use of the 12 Priority Rights of Working Children and Youth as a guiding framework for its programs and advocacy.
The Chairman gave a warm and impressive reception, commending the organization’s efforts and expressing openness to collaboration. The engagement created a platform for partnership, particularly in areas related to child protection, youth development, and community-based interventions.
Overall, the visit strengthened the relationship between MAEJT Nigeria and Badagry Local Government and opened pathways for future collaboration to improve the well-being of vulnerable children and young people.
