Fresh details have emerged from the ongoing investigation into a suspected baby factory uncovered in Badagry, as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps revealed that the operation was driven by financial inducement.
Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed that the suspects allegedly used a Facebook account to lure pregnant women with promises of cash rewards ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦1 million in exchange for their babies after delivery.
The disturbing revelation follows a recent raid on a residential building in the Okuju-Ilado area of Olorunda LCDA, where several pregnant women and other victims were rescued.
Security operatives say investigations are still ongoing, with efforts focused on uncovering the full extent of the network and bringing all those involved to justice.
The development has further heightened concerns over the growing menace of illegal baby factories and human trafficking in parts of Lagos State, as authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
