A new performance ranking of members of the House of Representatives in Lagos State has placed Badagry’s representative, Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, in fourth position out of 24 lawmakers, highlighting his standing among top-performing legislators in the state.
The ranking, released by Lagos Reporters, is part of its widely followed 1000-day performance assessment, which evaluates lawmakers based on their impact and engagement since assuming office.
According to the report, Whingan scored 11,700 points, placing him behind Ikorodu’s Benson Adegoke, who led the chart with 12,900 points, followed by Raji Olawale of Epe with 12,450 points, and Ikeja’s Abiodun Faleke, who recorded 12,050 points.
The comprehensive ranking is the outcome of months of fieldwork, investigations, and data verification carried out across all 24 federal constituencies in Lagos State. Lagos Reporters said the exercise involved direct engagement with residents, physical inspection of projects, and cross-checking of findings by field operatives to ensure accuracy and credibility.
Key parameters used in the assessment include constituency engagement, accessibility to the public, impact on community development, and verified feedback from constituents.
While the report commended top-performing lawmakers, it also raised concerns about a growing disconnect between some representatives and the people they serve. In several constituencies, residents reportedly complained of limited access to their lawmakers, low visibility, and projects that do not reflect broader community needs.
Despite these concerns, Whingan’s placement in the top four is seen as a strong endorsement of his performance in Badagry Federal Constituency, particularly in areas of grassroots engagement and project delivery.
The ranking, Lagos Reporters noted, is intended to promote accountability and encourage elected officials to remain responsive and visible to their constituents. The platform added that it will continue to monitor legislative performance as part of its commitment to strengthening democratic governance and ensuring that public office holders deliver measurable impact.
