Olorunda Chairman Inspects Abandoned Special Needs Child Rescued by His Wife, Folashade Ajose, at the General Hospital

A child believed to have been abandoned due to special needs has received a new chance at life following the intervention of the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, and his wife, Mrs. Folashade Ajose.

The council boss on Monday visited Badagry General Hospital to personally assess the condition of the infant, who is currently receiving medical care at the facility.

The child, estimated to be less than a year old, was reportedly dumped weeks ago by an unidentified woman near the Customs checkpoint in the Mowo area of Olorunda LCDA. Eyewitnesses in the area suspected that the abandonment may be connected to the child’s special needs.

Her rescue followed a swift response by operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, led by Mr. Tella Abiodun, who alerted Mrs. Folashade Ajose. Acting promptly, she coordinated the rescue effort and ensured the child was taken to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Since her admission, Hon. Ajose has taken full responsibility for the child’s medical care and other related expenses, a move widely described as a strong show of compassion and leadership.

During his visit, the chairman commended the Neighbourhood Safety Corps for their prompt intervention and also praised his wife for her decisive role in ensuring the safety and survival of the vulnerable child.

He assured that the council would continue to monitor the child’s health and welfare, while working on arrangements to transfer her to a specialized motherless home where she can receive long-term care and support.

Residents across the area have since praised the intervention, describing it as a commendable act that reflects responsive governance and a deep sense of humanity.
