There is growing buzz across Lagos political circles following the alleged release and subsequent leak of a list containing the names of Secretaries to Local Governments, Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers appointed across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
Multiple sources within the state confirmed that the Lagos State Government has officially forwarded the list to the Executive Chairmen of the various councils. However, none of the chairmen has publicly announced or confirmed the appointments.
Despite the silence from the councils, portions of the list have reportedly found their way onto social media platforms, particularly Facebook, sparking discussions and speculation among residents and party faithful. Councils such as Apapa and Somolu are among those whose alleged nominees have been circulated online.
The development has fueled anticipation in several local government secretariats, where stakeholders are awaiting official confirmation. Political observers say the delay in formal announcements may be strategic, as consultations and internal alignments are still ongoing in some councils.
While the authenticity of the leaked documents could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report, insiders insist that the list in circulation largely reflects the official nominations submitted to the chairmen.
As of press time, the Lagos State Government has yet to issue an official statement addressing the leaks. Meanwhile, residents and party supporters across the councils continue to watch closely, expecting clarity in the coming days.
