The Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Babatunde Hunpe, has inaugurated members of the council’s executive cabinet and immediately assigned portfolios to them, tasking the new team to deliver results that will advance development across the local government.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Hunpe described the swearing-in as a key step in the implementation of his administration’s “Greater Badagry Rising Agenda,” a development blueprint aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery in the ten wards of the council.
The chairman said the appointment of the Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors and Special Advisers followed a transparent and inclusive process within the All Progressives Congress, allowing each ward to nominate credible candidates.
According to him, the process ensured that the final composition of the cabinet reflected the collective voice and aspirations of the people of Badagry.
Hunpe congratulated the appointees but reminded them that their positions come with serious responsibilities.
“Badagry Local Government does not need passengers, it needs partners. Your appointment is not a trophy to display but a tool to deploy in solving the challenges facing our people,” he said.
He urged them to take ownership of their assignments, remain accessible to residents and introduce innovative ideas that would improve governance and development outcomes in the council.
Earlier in her remarks, the Council Manager, Mary Abosede Olusanya, commended the Hunpe administration for promoting inclusive governance and urged the new officials to work closely with the leadership of the council in delivering people-oriented programmes.
The oath of office was administered by the council’s Legal Officer, Kehinde Popoola.
