A Lagos West senatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, Babajide Senayon Akran, has congratulated Pastor Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi on his reelection as Chairman of the party in Lagos State, while calling on the APC to consider ceding the Lagos West Senatorial seat and the Deputy Governorship slot to Badagry Division ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akran in a statement made available to Badagry Today, described Ojelabi’s return as a well deserved mandate that reflects the confidence of party leaders and members in his leadership capacity. He noted that continuity at the state party level would provide stability and strengthen preparations for the next electoral cycle.
However, the senatorial hopeful said the moment also presents an opportunity for the party to deepen internal equity by ensuring that Badagry Division secures greater representation at the highest levels of governance.
According to him, while the reelection of the state chairman reinforces party unity, it has also reshaped political calculations across the divisions. He argued that to maintain balance and inclusiveness, the APC should strategically zone the Lagos West Senatorial seat and the Deputy Governor position to Badagry.
Akran maintained that such a move would not only reward loyalty and long standing contributions from the division but also enhance the party’s electoral strength by giving every zone a sense of belonging.
He pointed out that with Speaker Mudashiru Obasa expected to retain his influence in the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Senate and Deputy Governorship positions remain realistic and attainable pathways for Badagry to secure meaningful political presence in 2027.
Calling for unity among leaders and stakeholders in the division, Akran urged constructive engagement with party hierarchy rather than confrontation, stressing that fair zoning and strategic dialogue remain the most effective path toward achieving collective aspirations.
As consultations intensify within the Lagos APC, his appeal adds fresh momentum to conversations around representation, equity and power sharing ahead of the 2027 polls.
