A former Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Tunde Alabi-Hundeyin, popularly known as Dudu, has described the lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, as a valuable asset who deserves continued support from the people of the constituency.
Alabi-Hundeyin made the remarks in a Facebook post where he reflected on Whingan’s performance and potential, urging residents of Badagry to view the lawmaker’s re election as a strategic investment that could yield greater benefits for the constituency at the National Assembly.
The former council boss, who served as Chairman of Badagry Local Government after winning the seat on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy in 2002, said Whingan has consistently impressed him with his intellect, humility and sense of purpose.
According to him, democratic systems around the world thrive when communities deliberately invest in their lawmakers by allowing them to remain in legislative chambers long enough to gain experience and influence.
He explained that longevity in parliament often translates into higher ranking positions and committee leadership roles, which in turn provide lawmakers with greater opportunities to attract development and resources to their constituencies.
Alabi-Hundeyin, however, noted that such investments only pay off when the lawmaker involved is active and productive rather than a passive participant in legislative affairs.
He expressed pride in Whingan’s performance so far, pointing out that despite being a first term legislator, the Badagry representative has already distinguished himself in important assignments at the National Assembly.
“Sesi strikes me every time he is engaged as a brilliant, humble and polished young man,” he wrote. “Democracy all over the world requires communities to invest in their lawmakers by keeping them in the chambers long enough to acquire ranking status.”
He added that he was impressed by the young lawmaker’s dedication and passion for excellence, stressing that his comments were not driven by partisan considerations but by his personal assessment of Whingan’s performance.
“I am really proud to see Sesi pull his weight in classy assignments despite being a first timer. I am not talking politics. I am talking about excellence and passion to excel. Impressive,” he stated.
Alabi-Hundeyin’s endorsement adds to the growing public commentary around Whingan’s role in the National Assembly, where the Badagry lawmaker has continued to gain visibility through legislative and committee engagements.
