The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, has continued to reaffirm his strong commitment to youth empowerment by facilitating the participation of 20 young people from Badagry in a high level digital literacy programme focused on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The beneficiaries took part in a week long capacity building initiative organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in collaboration with Innovious. The programme, titled Capital Development of Lagos Youth on Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics and Machine Learning, was designed to prepare young Lagosians for relevance in today’s fast evolving global digital economy.
The 20 youths were carefully selected from different parts of Badagry to ensure fairness, inclusivity and balanced representation. They joined other participants drawn from various local government areas across Lagos State.
During the intensive training, participants were exposed to practical and hands on sessions covering artificial intelligence, the basics of machine learning and the use of data analytics for problem solving. Emphasis was placed on real world applications, equipping the youths with skills they can immediately translate into impact and innovation.
To further support their learning and long term development, each participant received a brand new laptop at the end of the programme, a gesture aimed at ensuring continuity and practical application of the skills acquired.
Commissioner Ogunlende attended the closing ceremony held at Cordis Hotel in Ikeja, where he officially declared the programme closed. He praised the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and Innovious for initiating what he described as a timely and forward looking intervention that aligns perfectly with the Lagos State Government’s youth development agenda.
He also reiterated his willingness to deepen partnerships that will open more doors of opportunity for young people across the state.
According to him, he remains committed and open to collaborating on more impactful programmes focused on developing, empowering and nurturing youths towards sustainable national development and economic growth.
Ogunlende charged the beneficiaries to make the most of the rare opportunity, noting that with the quality of training and resources provided, they are now better positioned to compete favourably on the global stage and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s digital future.
