The National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN Lagos State Chapter has announced plans to host the Lagos Youth Talk Series 2.0 a platform designed to stimulate meaningful dialogue and practical solutions around youth safety and community resilience in the state.
The event themed Street Smart Safety How Lagos Youth Can Strengthen Community Emergency Response will bring together young people policymakers and safety stakeholders to engage in conversations aimed at building grassroots capacity for emergency preparedness and response across Lagos communities.
Scheduled for Tuesday February 11 2026 the programme will take place at the Sam Shonibare Youth Center Lagos with proceedings set to begin at 2 30 pm. Organisers say the forum is part of ongoing efforts to empower young Lagosians with practical knowledge that can help save lives reduce risks and strengthen community solidarity in times of emergency.
The Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu will serve as the Chief Host underscoring the state government’s continued commitment to youth development and community safety. The event will be hosted by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Hon Mobolaji Ogunlende with the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Pharm Mrs Oluwatoyin Oke Osanyintolu acting as Co Host.
Chairman of NYCN Lagos and Convener of the programme Engr Adigun Ibrahim O MNSE said the Youth Talk Series is designed to move beyond talk by equipping young people with street smart safety awareness and a better understanding of how they can support emergency response efforts within their neighborhoods.
According to him Lagos youth are often the first responders in many situations and empowering them with the right knowledge skills and mindset can make a critical difference during emergencies before official help arrives.
The Lagos Youth Talk Series 2.0 is expected to feature interactive discussions experience sharing and practical insights focused on safety awareness community vigilance and collective responsibility.
NYCN Lagos says the initiative aligns with its broader vision of building responsible informed and proactive youth who can contribute meaningfully to the development and safety of the nation under its guiding message Build the Youth Build the Nation.
The event is open to youth leaders students volunteers and stakeholders interested in community development and public safety across Lagos State.
