LAGOS, NIGERIA — In a decisive step toward closing the digital skills gap and preparing young Nigerians for the fast evolving global tech economy, the National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN Lagos West Senatorial District has announced the launch of a large scale Artificial Intelligence bootcamp aimed at empowering youths across the district.

The initiative which will deliver hands on training in Artificial Intelligence and other in demand technology skills is expected to reach thousands of young people across key local government areas in Lagos West. The program is designed to equip participants with practical and employable skills that align with the realities of today’s job market.

Speaking exclusively with News Peddlers on Wednesday the Vice Chairman of NYCN Lagos West Senatorial District Aladeotan David described the bootcamp as a strategic response to the changing nature of work and the urgent need to prepare Nigerian youths for global competitiveness.

According to him the council is committed to taking world class tech education to the grassroots in order to unlock hidden talents and transform Lagos West into a thriving hub of digital innovation. He noted that the training curriculum has been carefully structured to be accessible to beginners while remaining rigorous enough to produce industry ready talents.

The bootcamp will run as an intensive week long training program with sessions scheduled between January and March. To ensure inclusivity and broad participation the training will be hosted across major local government areas including Badagry Ojo Amuwo Odofin and Ikeja.

This decentralized approach is aimed at reducing transportation challenges and making it easier for youths from different communities and backgrounds to take part in the program. Beyond Artificial Intelligence the bootcamp will also cover other critical technology courses that are shaping the future of work globally.

As Nigeria continues to navigate economic shifts driven by technology and innovation the NYCN believes that empowering youths with digital skills is one of the most effective ways to secure long term growth and stability.

“This is about equipping our youths with the tools they need to compete globally and to become creators not just consumers of technology,” Aladeotan said.

By the conclusion of the three month rollout the council expects to have nurtured a new generation of tech savvy youths who are ready to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s growing digital ecosystem.

Enrollment details and participation guidelines are expected to be communicated through local NYCN coordinators across the Lagos West Senatorial District in the coming weeks.
