The Lagos State Government has commenced a major clearance operation along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, targeting illegal and obstructive structures that have continued to hinder traffic flow and compromise public safety.

The exercise, which kicked off at Alakija in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, was announced by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via a statement shared on his official X handle on Monday.

According to the commissioner, enforcement teams moved steadily from Alakija through Iyana Iba and are currently active opposite Lagos State University LASU. Similar operations are also ongoing around Alaba Market, all within Ojo Local Government Area.

Wahab explained that the operation is being carried out by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency in collaboration with other enforcement units under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

He noted that the initiative is aimed at restoring order along the busy corridor, improving environmental sanitation and ensuring the free flow of traffic in line with existing environmental and urban planning regulations.

The clearance along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway follows a series of related enforcement actions across the state in late 2025, including the removal of illegal structures along the Jakande Coastal Road and the arrest of beggars on the Lekki–Epe Expressway.

According to the state government, the renewed enforcement drive underscores its commitment to maintaining a cleaner environment, safer roads and a more orderly urban space for residents and road users across Lagos.
