Badagry West witnessed another decisive step toward grassroots development as the Executive Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Hon Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaren, popularly known as RIKAY, rolled out a major empowerment programme to support artisans and small business owners across the council area.

The initiative, unveiled as part of activities marking his first 100 days in office, was themed 100 Days of Renewed Hope, Action and Accountability and delivered what many residents have described as one of the most impactful gestures of the new administration.

In a packed gathering of community members, party stalwarts and beneficiaries, RIKAY distributed a wide range of tools and business equipment designed to boost productivity and promote self-reliance. Items presented included Okada motorcycles, grinding machines, tiling tool kits, clippers paired with generator units, wheelchairs, welding machines and several other tools essential to different trades.

The event drew notable dignitaries from across the political landscape. Representing the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon Pst Cornelius Ojelabi, was the APC Lagos West Senatorial Youth Leader, Hon Rasheed Gboshe. They were joined by Hon Sesi Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry; Hon Setonji David, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Hon. Solomon Bonu Saanu, Member of Lagos State House of Assembly and House Committee Chairman on Tourism, Arts and Culture; Hon Bamgbose A Joseph, Alex Leader, Badagry West; Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, Chairman, Olorunda Local Council Development, and Hon Babatunde Hunpe, Chairman of Badagry Local Government.

The leaders took turns commending RIKAY for what they described as a clear demonstration of purposeful leadership and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. Many applauded the chairman for focusing on practical interventions that directly affect livelihoods rather than symbolic gestures.

For the beneficiaries, the day was filled with gratitude and renewed optimism. Many described the gesture as a lifeline that will expand their businesses, improve income and ease the burden of rising operational costs.

RIKAY reaffirmed that the empowerment initiative is only the beginning of a long-term plan aimed at strengthening local enterprises, supporting vocational skills and ensuring that residents of Badagry West enjoy real dividends of democracy.

The event closed with a collective call for continued partnership between the government and the people to sustain growth and development across all communities in Badagry West.
