Badagry was thrown into mourning today following the announcement of the passing of Madam Hunsipe Deborah Hunpe, mother of the Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon Babatunde Hunpe. She was reported to have passed on peacefully in the early hours of the day.
In an emotional statement issued from his office, Hon Hunpe described his late mother as more than a parent, noting that she was his anchor, his earliest teacher, and a constant source of strength throughout his life. He spoke of her as a woman who embodied humility, strong faith, and a rare depth of compassion that touched everyone she encountered.
According to him, Mama Hunsipe lived a life built on service, kindness, and wisdom, leaving behind a legacy that shaped his character and guided his journey in public service. He said her prayers upheld him through life’s challenges and that her memory would remain an eternal inspiration to him, his family, and many others who had been blessed by her warmth and generosity.
Hon Hunpe expressed profound gratitude to friends, political associates, community leaders, and residents who have reached out with condolences and prayers since the news broke. He assured the public that details of the funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
