2027: Hon. Nuatin Calls for a Clear Badagry Agenda

Hon Nuatin Genesis Williams, former Sole Administrator of Badagry West LCDA, has stirred a fresh conversation on the future of Badagry with a thought-provoking reflection on the need for a unified development agenda as the community approaches another election cycle.

In a message shared on his Facebook page, Williams challenged long-held assumptions and called on residents to break free from outdated beliefs that hinder progress. He noted that many ideas persisted in the public space not because they were true but because people had become accustomed to them, even when reality had disproved them.

He cautioned that this mindset often makes citizens accept illegal or questionable actions as normal simply because beneficiaries promote such narratives and the public hesitates to question them. According to him, ignorance and resignation to fate have contributed to the stagnation of developmental efforts in Badagry.

Williams stressed that fate may place limitations before individuals or communities, but it never renders them powerless. He added that Badagry’s political and social discussions are often clouded by a missing link — the absence of a clear and commonly accepted agenda that outlines what the people want and how their leaders should be assessed.

He posed a critical question to residents, opinion leaders, and political actors: What is the Badagry Agenda?

Williams argued that without a defined agenda, it becomes difficult to measure the performance of elected officials or justify their return to office. He noted that many political debates in Badagry derail into personal sentiments, entitlement, and long-standing animosities instead of focusing on collective goals.

As the community prepares for another round of elections at different levels, Williams urged the people to reflect deeply and decide on what truly represents their shared aspirations. He emphasised that Badagry must shift from individual-driven narratives to a people-driven agenda that can guide political choices and public expectations.

His message has continued to generate reactions among residents, many of whom believe it is time for Badagry to adopt a coordinated roadmap for development, unity, and effective representation.
