It was a day of celebration and pride on Lagos Island as the Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Government, Hon. Muibi Folawiyo, marked his first 100 days in office with the commissioning of landmark projects that reflect a renewed vision for grassroots development. The event, held earlier today, was graced by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, who personally returned to his old neighbourhood to inaugurate the projects. Governor Sanwo-Olu described the visit as special, noting that Lagos Island East played a significant role in shaping his life and values. He commended Hon. Folawiyo for his commitment to service delivery within a short period, emphasizing that the projects align with the state’s drive for inclusive growth and sustainable urban renewal. Among the projects commissioned were a brand-new housing estate, a command centre for the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LSNSC), and the newly rebuilt and upgraded Lagos Island East Council Secretariat. The Secretariat now boasts over 60 modern offices, a legislative building, 300- and 500-seater halls, a mosque, a church, a staff clinic, a pharmacy, a supermarket, and a multi-agency complex. Governor Sanwo-Olu said these developments symbolize the unity and progress of the Lagos Island community. “It is special for me to see these developments in my community. Together, we are building a neighbourhood that reflects our history, our pride, and our shared vision for progress,” he said. Residents and stakeholders in attendance applauded the governor and the council chairman for their collaborative effort in bringing visible transformation to the area within just 100 days of the new administration.
