Badagry West LCDA has officially cancelled the contract previously awarded to Gibeon and Ajalon Global Concept Ltd for the construction of the proposed ultra-modern market at the J4 and J5 axis of the Seme Border corridor.
The council explained that the decision came after an internal review revealed that the contractor had abandoned the project for nearly a year. According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Solomon Zosu, the contractor failed to respond to multiple reminders and made no effort to return to site or correct the issues raised.
Major parts of the project such as the garage area and keyclamps were also left undone, a clear violation of the original contract terms.
The council stressed that the project land remains fully under its control, adding that it has not been sold, transferred or handed over to anyone. The delay, it said, was strictly the result of the contractor’s failure to perform.
With the project now back under its direct supervision, the administration of Hon Rauf Ibrahim Kayode RIKAY has opened the door to new bidders. Reputable companies with the capacity to deliver the market project have been invited to express interest at the Office of the Council Manager in Kankon.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the timely delivery of infrastructure that meets the needs of residents.
