Ajose Kumayon Charts New Course for Olorunda LCDA as He Leads 2026 Budget Retreat

The Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon Ajose Peter Kumayon, has again demonstrated his commitment to purposeful leadership as he led a three-day strategic retreat to shape the council’s 2026 budget. The session, which ran from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th November 2025, was held at Crown City Park Hotel and Resort in Agbara, Ogun State.

Hon Ajose told participants that the annual budget remains the backbone of any meaningful development and that Olorunda cannot witness real progress without a deep, honest review of how the council currently operates. He said changing the face of the LCDA and improving residents’ quality of life requires a bold and holistic assessment of development indicators.

He stressed that the administration’s drive for sustainable growth and transparent governance will only succeed if the Public Procurement Act is fully adhered to at the local government level. According to him, his government has zero tolerance for shortcuts, favoritism, or any form of malpractice. Instead, he called for unity, better collaboration across departments, diligence, reduced leakages, and a stronger internal control system.

Looking ahead, the chairman urged stakeholders especially the council’s seasoned technocrats to apply professionalism and measurable performance indicators while examining budget proposals. He said every project and programme must be subjected to detailed scrutiny, weighing its social benefits, cost implications, and its overall impact on the people of Olorunda.

Hon Ajose also highlighted the urgent need for credible data, noting that no development blueprint can succeed without accurate and reliable information.

He added, “Very soon, we will fully digitize our operations to make our processes seamless. It is clear that we cannot continue doing things the same way and expect different results. A shift in mindset is necessary. To achieve the purpose of this retreat, we must also review our legal frameworks, including our bye laws. Transforming Olorunda is not the job of one person, it is a collective responsibility.”

The retreat featured robust, inspiring, and knowledge-driven sessions delivered by respected resource persons. Discussions touched on key governance areas and aligned strongly with the administration’s vision for a transformed and inclusive Olorunda.

In attendance were the First Lady, Mrs Folashade Ajose; Vice Chairman, Hon Adele Bolaji Solomon; Chief of Staff, Hon Cornelius Olabisi Akinyele; Council Manager, Mr Adesanya Moruf, who led the management team; Council Treasurer, Mrs Awusinu Olayinka; heads of departments and units; aides of the chairman; and NULGE Chairman, Comrade Rasheed Ogunyemi, among others.

The retreat, according to participants, signaled a renewed determination to steer Olorunda LCDA into a new era of accountability, innovation, and people-centered development.
