The Lagos State Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Drivers Association (TODA), Comrade (Alhaji) Yusuf Oladunjoye Olatunde, has declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Badagry Constituency II in the 2027 elections, under the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC
Comrade Oladunjoye, popularly known as Ladun, made this known during a media chat held at Magbon, Olorunda Local Council Development Area. He explained that his decision to join the race is driven by a genuine passion to serve, to amplify the voices of his people, and to promote equity and fairness across the constituency.
Comrade Oladunjoye is a native of Ilogbo-Eremi, old Ward H and new Ward D in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry.
According to him, his community, Old Badagry Ward H, also known as the Ilogbo Ward, has long suffered political marginalization. He noted that since the return of democracy in 1999, the constituency has had lawmakers from three of its original five wards, Ikoga, Ajara, and Ibereko, while Ilogbo and Yafin Wards have yet to produce any representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“It’s only fair that by 2027, our ward should be given the opportunity to produce a lawmaker,” he said. “We’ve been loyal, supportive, and active in the political process for years. It’s time for our voices to be heard.”
Comrade Ladun, who has earned a reputation for his grassroots leadership and people-oriented activism, emphasized that his ambition is not merely about politics but about service. If elected, he promised to use his legislative influence to improve the lives of his constituents.
He outlined his priorities to include youth and women empowerment, educational advancement programs, and infrastructural development through effective lobbying and partnership with relevant government agencies.
“As someone who was born, raised, and still lives among the people of Badagry Constituency II, I understand our challenges first-hand. I will not only make laws but also ensure our people feel the real impact of government,” he said confidently.
Hon. (Engr.) Setonji David, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, currently represents Badagry Constituency II. Reports indicate that the lawmaker is seeking a return to the Assembly for the fourth time by 2027.
Oladunjoye’s declaration has already begun to stir conversations within the local political landscape, as many residents and supporters see his ambition as a step toward achieving long-overdue representation for the Ilogbo axis of Badagry.
If his words are anything to go by, 2027 might just be the year the voice of the forgotten wards finally finds expression in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Haven suffered political marginalization in the old ward H and for equity and fairness, the good people of Ilogbo-Eremi by this means thereby seek indulgence of the political leaders; local, State and federal to consider our brother, son of the soil;*Alhaji Comrade Yusuf Oladunjoye Olatunde* comes the 11th Assembly.
